AI reputation management: cost and how it works

What you’ll actually pay to manage what AI says about you in 2026 — and what the work involves.

AI reputation management is the practice of monitoring and shaping what AI models say about you — the answer people now get instead of a page of search results. Here’s what it costs and how it works.

What it costs in 2026

  • DIY: $0–$50/mo — you run your own checks and file your own removal requests.
  • Software tools: ~$19–$299/mo — monitoring and alerts, but you do the fixing.
  • Managed / done-for-you: ~$300–$2,000/mo — an agency does the work for you.
  • Full-service & high-profile: $1,000–$10,000+/mo, and materially higher for active-crisis or executive cases.

For an individual, it’s usually targeted and time-bound: fix what’s wrong, then hold the line with lighter monitoring.

How the work actually breaks down

  • Measure. Scan the major models, score the risk, and identify exposure, false claims, and misattribution.
  • Publish the record. Build authoritative, structured sources (site, schema, verified profiles, Wikidata) so models retrieve the truth.
  • Correct & suppress. Challenge false claims through the proper channels; out-cite what can’t be removed.
  • Shrink exposure. Remove your data from the brokers web-connected models pull from.
  • Monitor. Re-scan monthly and track the score — because removal isn’t permanent and answers drift.

How to choose

Software is cheapest but leaves you doing the fixing. Done-for-you costs more but is the only option that actually changes the answer. The honest test: can the provider show your risk as a number, and show it move? If not, you can’t tell whether you’re paying for work or for dashboards.
